TENNIS & MUSIC STRINGS MADE IN INDIA
"For over seventy years, Global Gut™ has preserved the exact, time-honored methods of natural gut string manufacturing. From the hands of our master artisans in India to the world's most prestigious courts and concert halls, we remain dedicated to the unparalleled feel and acoustic warmth that only natural gut can provide."
Since 1948, when our journey began in India, we have weathered changing times and evolving technologies while remaining fiercely loyal to our origins. Our story is one of generations of craftsmen, united by a singular pursuit of perfection in the art of natural gut string making.
Whether you require unique gauges, custom lengths, or bulk orders for your academy or orchestra, our workshop can accommodate specialized manufacturing requests.
The journey of a Global Gut string begins with the careful sourcing of premium sheep gut. Only the finest, most resilient raw materials are selected to meet our rigorous standards.
In our workshop in India, master artisans employ a meticulous, weeks-long curing and washing process. The gut is gently treated to remove impurities while preserving the vital collagen structure that gives our strings their signature elasticity.
Each string is hand-spun and tensioned over several days. Our proprietary coating process seals the fibers, offering enhanced durability against moisture and friction without sacrificing the delicate, responsive feel that professionals demand.
Before leaving our facility, every batch undergoes strict quality control, testing for gauge consistency, tensile strength, and finish. It is a slow, uncompromised process that cannot be rushed.
A selection from our collection.
Gut strings were the voice of these instruments for centuries. In the studio you can play ten of them on screen: violin, viola, cello, double bass, viola da gamba, guitar, ukulele, lute, oud and harp. Pluck or bow a string, strum a chord, or let it play a tune.
The notes are real recordings of gut strings. Turn your sound on.

All orders ship worldwide from our workshop in India. Orders are dispatched within 2–3 business days. Standard shipping is $17.50 for most orders. Very large orders can cost more, and the exact price is shown in the cart once you enter your address. It usually arrives in 14–20 days. Times can vary with destination and customs. A tracking number is emailed once your order ships. Import duties or taxes, where applicable, are the buyer's responsibility.
Unopened, unused string sets in original packaging may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the item price. Because natural gut is sensitive to handling and humidity, strings that have been installed or removed from their sealed packaging cannot be returned. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, email us within 7 days with photos and we will replace it or refund you in full. To start a return, contact info@globalgutstrings.com with your order ID.
